When we refer to Mt Elgon as a region it can be so hard as that is like referring to a wine coming from South Australia, it doesn't feel specific enough. 

Mt Elgon is enormous, with each coffee growing region being unique and vary in climate, elevation, sunlight exposure and soil dynamics, to name a few. So Elgon is the nametag given when coffee has comes from different regions of Mt Elgon. This can be for multiple reasons, the two main reasons are for volume simplicity where combining coffees that score exceptionally well are kept as single region microlots and the remaining high quality coffee is combined from all regions to become Elgon Washed, Honey and Natural. The other main region is designing and curating similar flavours, for example the Elgon Anaerobic V this year was a combination of Bulaago and Bududa anaerobic lots that showcased similar flavours.

Elgon also can then include all coffee not specifically from this region, people from all around are excited for Zukuka and want to be a part of the project so might travel from slightly outside of our buying regions and we can evaluate this coffee as an emerging region or later include it in this coffee once processed.
