Process Master: Luis Anibal Calderon is a renowned coffee producer and community leader from Acevedo, Huila. He is the owner of Finca Villa Betulia where he and his family work as a team to nurture the land and demonstrate the extraordinary potential of Colombian coffee. Luis was given a very small lot of land by his father when he was young, and he has been expanding and learning ever since. In 2016 Luis was recognised as one of the top 30 finalists in the Huila Best Cup.

The Pivot: In 2011 the global price of coffee saw a record high, following severe weather events in Brazil and rising global demand. Luis was barely covering production costs and was at serious risk of losing his farm. He was able to sell some of his coffee to the local Specialty Coffee Association at 15% above the C market price. With this profit, he started to plant more exotic varietals. As more of the farm was converted, so was Luis. Through commitment to quality and high processing standards, Luis became a master of innovative fermentation and drying.

Huila: Is one of the most celebrated coffee producing regions in Colombia. Huila is located in the country's southwest, between the Central and Eastern Andes mountain ranges. This region's high altitude, rich volcanic soil, stable temperatures as well as care from meticulous farmers make coffee from this region highly sought after.
